Rarely do jazz artists of their stature perform together as a duo: saxophone Joshua Redman and pianist Brad Mehldau celebrate the release of their first collaborative album at Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ, in collaboration with the Bimhuis. These two American players exchange roles fluidly, as soloists and accompanists, in a breathtaking tightrope walk alongside original compositions, timeless jazz and surprising pop songs.
After their major breakthrough in the Joshua Redman Quartet both players found success on their own terms. Saxophone genius and piano maestro Brad Mehldau are both master storytellers. Their transparent duo improvisations come out perfectly in a classical concert hall such as Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ.
