BOERENBOND

Peter Evans trompet, Eric Boeren cornet, Jason Adasiewicz vibraphone, Tobias Delius tenorsax/klarinet

Four musicians, four cities and four distinctive styles are combined in Boerenbond. Cornet player Eric Boeren initiated the first gig, which took place at the Bimhuis. Now the roads of the four giants will cross again. They come from four directions, the improv hotspots New York, Chicago, Berlin and Amsterdam.

New Yorker Peter Evans is currently counted among the most forward-thinking trumpet players, bundling the most radical techniques from the swing era as well as contemporary music. Berlin-based tenor sax player Tobias Delius causes chills with his extravert style of playing. Vibraphone player Jason Adasiewicz from Chicago can appear like a drummer with his energetic, percussive approach. Eric Boeren fires them up with challenging, melodic improvisations.

‘He’s got his own thing going on, combining the wonderful loosey-goosey aesthetic of the Dutch free jazz scene with every possible formal element… an undeniably joyful sound’ (Chicago Reader).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
