Colorful improv trio featuring Vinny Golia, leading reeds player and
film composer from Los Angeles, whose playing contains elements of jazz,
contemporary classical and Eastern music.

One-time painter Vinny
Golia plays over twenty woodwinds, from sopranino to double bass
saxophone and many Asian flutes. From Los Angeles he has led a myriad of
bands, ensembles and orchestras. Consequently, he is seen as a key
figure in California’s improvised music community. As a composer he
contributed to films, theatrical productions, ballet and modern dance
works.

Since the 1970s, Vinny Golia recorded dozens of albums
with L.A. heroes (John Carter, Bobby Bradford, Nels Cline) as well as
renowned international players (Anthony Braxton, William Parker, Wadada
Leo Smith). At the Bimhuis he will perform with French double bassist
Bernard Santacruz and Italian percussionist Cristiano Calcagnile.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
