Blue Lines Trio – 10 years
Thursday8 September 2022

The Blue Lines Trio keeps on looking for new possibilities of playing together as a unit. Tradition and original ideas are playfully interwoven in an appealing melting pot of, in their own words, ‘mild anarchy, bouncy swing, crunchy chords, found melodies, spirited ballads, woogie tunes and interim scores.’ At this concert the trio will present a new album.

In 2012, double bassist founded the Blue Lines Trio, bringing together three generations of improvisers. They don’t see themselves as a classical pianotrio, but a trio in which everyone has an equal say. Van der Weide and pianist Michiel Scheen had played together for decades, collaborating with ensembles led by Maarten Altena, Guus Janssen, Misha Mengelberg, and Paul Termos. Drummer George Hadsow represents a new generation of international improvisers that has enriched Dutch music.
