BLOOD MICHAEL MOORE, OSKAR AICHINGER, JOHN EDWARDS
i.c.w. VPRO Radio
Michael Moore-alto saxophone, clarinets, Oskar Aichinger-piano, John Edwards-bass
Pianist Paul Bley, one of the most influential musicians in modern jazz has only incidentally composed himself. Fortunately he had relationships with two female composers, Carla Bley and Annette Peacock, who wrote pieces for him. ‘Made to order’ for the musical fields he was working in at the time. Michael Moore, Oskar Aichinger and John Edwards, musicians of a younger generation, are attracted to these compositions as a starting point for new musical creations. Clarinet player Jimmy Giuffre (one of Bley’s most loyal musical partners) also brings in several compositions.
