Black Art Jazz Collective

Jeremy Pelt trumpet, Wayne Escoffery tenor sax, James Burton III trombone, Victor Gould piano, Rashaan Carter bass, Mark Whitfield Jr. drums

The Black Art Jazz Collective was co-founded by trumpeter Jeremy Pelt and saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, two musicians from New York who are currently at the absolute top of international jazz. The band members celebrate jazz as a true American art form. In their original compositions, they honor icons of African-American culture, such as W.E.B. Dubois, Sojourner Truth, and Barack Obama.

Jeremy Pelt has become one of the preeminent trumpeters within the world of jazz, and he has set our stage aflame many times with his own bands. Wayne Escoffery has previously played here with the Tom Harrell Quintet and Mingus Dynasty. The group is completed by trombonist James Burton III, pianist Victor Gould, bassist Rashaan Carter, and drummer Mark Whitfield Jr.
