New edition of BimPop, with theatrical pop songs by IX and ‘relentless rock-’n-roll at its most exciting’ (de Volkskrant) by the successful formation Beans & Fatback.

The concert series Bimpop gives room to cheeky, adventurous pop music in the broadest sense of the word, by qualified musicians with guts, in a setting where every detail of the music can be heard. This edition features performances by IX and Beans & Fatback.

IX is the solo project of 23 year-old singer/musician Marnix Dorrestein. He won the Grote Prijs van Nederland competition with the band Über-Ich and has collaborated with Jett Rebel and Herman van Veen, whose latest album he has produced. As Ix he plays guitar and drum computer alongside Jasper Slijderink (synthesizers, piano) and Jelle Huiberts (drums). ‘Ix is me’, says Marnix. ‘IX offers space for my sixties mania, love for African music, experimental urges, stubbornness, energy and everything I will be passionate about.’

Beans & Fatback is a band with a preference for the raw roots music from Southern US. What started as a studio project of Lefties Soul Connection’s Onno Smit quickly grew into one of the most energetic bands on the Dutch live circuit. On the new album the group sounds raunchier and more intense than ever. ‘With Skin Attached measures up to the 5-star albums recently released by Jack White and the Black Keys.
