BIMPOP

Second edition of this new concert series full of cheeky, adventurous pop music. Phenomenal folk blues by The Wood Brothers, featuring bassist Chris Wood of Medeski, Martin & Wood, plus soulful indie rock by My Baby. At the Bimhuis cafe: DJ Moonshine.

The second edition of BimPop, the new concert series for cheeky, adventurous pop music in the broadest sense of the word, by qualified musicians with guts, in a setting where every detail of the music can be heard.

The Wood Brothers
The Wood Brothers is the family company of singer/guitarist Oliver Wood and his brother Chris Wood, bassist of Medeski, Martin & Wood. Together they write clever songs full of raw vocals, edgy guitars and warm bass grooves. Together with drummer/percussionist Jano Rix they play a supertight and exciting mix of folk, blues, rock and jazz. ‘The best blend of vernacular American roots music since The Band folded’ (Allmusic.com).

My Baby
My Baby plays ‘Delta trance Louisiana dub indie funk’, according to the band’s singer Cato van Dijck (The Souldiers). The Amsterdam based trio played the roof off at Noorderslag earlier this year, and recently returned from an international tour which stopped at SXSW. ‘Dirty, jagged blues rock, swampy like Seasick Steve and The Black Keys. Cato’s vocals are excellent’ (3voor12).

DJ Moonshine
DJ Moonshine plays 78 rpm records in an extremely danceable mix of music from the 1920s until the 50s: hot jazz, blues, R&B, exotica, gospel, bebop, jump blues and swing.

Next to the regular á la carte menu, the Bimhuis restaurant serves this evening a Bimpopspecial for € 10. The Bimhuis restaurant
is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via
020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free
entrance).
