BIMPOP
The first edition of BimPop, a new concert series with cheeky, adventurous pop music in the broadest sense of the word, by qualified, gutsy musicians, in a setting where every detail of the music can be heard.
SIR IAN
Sir Ian is the Rotterdam singer-songwriter Bart Hoevenaars. He makes subtly arranged pop music with focus on vocals and guitar. Hoevenaars played in the bands MONO, The Yes Please and Fuck the Writer. He composed music for theatre productions by Frascati and Het Amsterdamse Bos. His solo project Sir Ian has a more introspective and personal approach. His second album Sir Ian II will be released in January 2014. ‘Music with international appeal, which effortlessly measures up to the best acts in the field of melancholy alternative rock’ (Up magazine).
MOULETTES
Closely related to Mumford & Sons, the alternative folk pop group The Moulettes is one of the forerunners of the de ‘new British acoustic scene’. The Brighton band makes orchestral folk influenced by progressive rock, indie, classical and jazz. Following appearances at Glastonbury and many other British festivals and venues, The Moulettes will now perform in The Netherlands for the first time. Full of energetic fun, the group presents their elegantly arranged songs full of inventive vocal harmonies. ‘This delicious music is played with acoustic virtuosity… complex and beautiful… intriguing and unique’ (MOJO).
KOFFIE
The instrumental music of the Amsterdam formation Koffie is an irresistible mix of afro beat, jazz and seventies funk. It’s impossible not to remain still when this charismatic, young band is playing. Koffie will close this first edition of BimPop with a celebratory set at the Bimhuis Café where everybody can dance.
