BILLY MARTIN´S WICKED KNEE

Besides playing Medeski, Martin & Wood, drummer Billy Martin also performs in countless settings with the best New York musicians. His new band Wicked Knee plays ‘ragtime funk’, or adventurous grooves with nods towards New Orleans, Jimi Hendrix and The White Stripes. ‘We invite people to let go, get down and have fun’, says Billy Martin. The combination of brass and drums is inspired by African music. The renowned brass section in Wicked Knee consists of Steven Bernstein (Sex Mob), Curtis Fowlkes (Jazz Passengers) and Marcus Rojas, who plays funky bass lines on tuba.
