BILL FRISELL – KENNY WOLLESEN DUO

Bill Frisell gitaar, Kenny Wollesen drums

Guitar icon Bill Frisell plays new compositions with percussionist Kenny Wollesen. ‘It’s hard to find a more fruitful meditation on American music than in the compositions of guitarist Bill Frisell’ (New York Times).

Bill Frisell is counted among the top American guitar players and, befittingly so, he brings together all kinds of ‘americana’ in his music, from jazz and bluegrass to rock and atmospheric film music. He collaborated with, among others, John Zorn, Elvis Costello and Lucinda Williams. In his own ensembles he has been playing with percussionist Kenny Wollesen for over 15 years. In 2015 they appeared as a duo in a YouTube concert at the former house of Elvis Presley in Memphis. Now they will present new original compositions.

‘Bill Frisell is perhaps the most valued jazz guitar player of the past decades, thanks to the ever present smile in his melancholy music. He is not in tune with endless solo jazz, but prefers intense ensemble playing around beautiful themes’ (de Volkskrant).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
