BENNY GOLSON QUARTET
Benny Golson tenor saxophone, Fritz Pauer piano, Gilles Naturel bass, Douglas Sides drums
Benny Golson is more than just a fantastic tenor saxophone player; he’s a legendary composer who linked harmony to the energy of bebop. He has written over 300 compositions, including such timeless standards as Whisper Not and I Remember Clifford. Golson played in the ensembles led by Dizzy Gillespie and Art Blakey. At the age of 82 he still leads his own quartet. ‘His book of jazz compositions is one of the most enduring of its kind’ (Penguin Guide to Jazz).
The concert will be 1 set of approximately 90 minutes, no intermission.
