BENNIE WALLACE TRIO & STEVE NELSON
Bennie Wallace-tenor saxophone, Steve Nelson-vibraphone, Danton Boller-bass, Alvin Queen-drums
Not many musicians elaborate on jazz tradition with as much freshness and originality as Bennie Wallace does. In his playing you hear the melodic acrobatics of Dolphy, the thematic logic of Rollins, freedom of the 60’s and the solid tenor sound of Ben Webster and Coleman Hawkins. ‘One of the finest tenor saxophonists alive’, is what All About Jazz wrote about him. In this quartet he gets defense from Steve Nelson, ‘one of the most interesting vibists on the scene’ (Penguin Guide), mainly known as a sideman of Dave Holland. ‘round midnight DJ PHIL JAZZ LOST AND FOUND Dance till late on hidden treasures & crazy grooves in vintage music.
