Benjamin Lackner Quartet ft. Mathias Eick, Jerôme Regard & Manu Katché
Mathias Eick trumpet, Benjamin Lackner piano, Jerôme Regard bass, Manu Katché drums
Pianist Benjamin Lackner has come to the fore as a composer on Last Decade, his debut album on the renowned label ECM Records. With his lyrical melodic lines and subtle grooves he lays the foundation for the flowing interplay between the band members. And these are not you average players: trumpeter Mathias Eick has proven himself on our stage more than once. Double bassist Jérôme Regard has previously played with Jan Garbarek. And drummer Manu Katché with global superstars such as Sting and Joni Mitchell.
Benjamin Lackner was born in Berlin, and he learned all about jazz in the United States. Currently he shares his time between New York and Berlin. He has collaborated with the likes of Billy Higgins, Marc Ribot, and David Binney, and he forged a special bond with bassist Jérôme Regard in his own trio. With this concert, Benny Lackner will make his debut on our stage, just like living legend Manu Katché, who made his breakthrough in the 1980s on the classic pop album So by Peter Gabriel.
