Ben Wendel, saxophonist of Kneebody, is a forerunner of the
current jazz generation from Brooklyn and is able to switch effortlessly
between classical music, funk or West Coast hip-hop.

Ben
Wendel is a versatile musician, who effortlessly switches between tenor
sax and bassoon and from jazz to classical music, funk or West Coast
hip-hop. He was born in Vancouver, raised in Los Angeles and is
currently living in Brooklyn, New York. Alongside jazz musicians he has
collaborated with, among others, Prince and Snoop Dogg. At the Bimhuis
he will perform with his own group.

This year Wendel plays
festivals such as North Sea Jazz with Kneedelus, the alliance between
his out of the box groove jazz band Kneebody and hip-hop producer/beat
maker Daedelus. Additionally, his solo album What We Bring will be
released. Earlier this year he received praise for Seasons, his film
series of duo performances with well-known musicians such as Joshua
Redman and Jeff Ballard.
