Since he was 18 alto saxophonist Ben van Gelder has been traveling between the Netherlands and New York, where he studied with Lee Konitz and Mark Turner. Like his pianist brother Gideon, he formed his own band in New York as well. He collaborated with internationally renowned peers such as Ambrose Akinmusire and Aaron Parks. Now he will present his New York quartet featuring pianist Sam Harris, bassist Joe Sanders and drummer Craig Weinrib.

‘With his intriguing compositions he takes bebop to a deep place. Each note, each motif, each theme feels like a sure shot, hitting the core’ (de Volkskrant).
