Celebrated bass clarinet players from all over the world come together for extremely varied improvisations and compositions, including world premieres by among others Ig Henneman and Martin Brandlmayr.
‘Deep, dark, droning, heavenly squeaking or whirring with satisfaction, the bass clarinet is one of the most versatile reed instruments. Bass clarinet players from The Netherlands and abroad, from world class improvisers to contemporary music specialists’ (Brabants Dagblad on Basklarinet Festijn 2014).
De second edition of Basklarinet Festijn brings together some of the world’s most celebrated bass clarinet players. The Dutch top is represented by Fie Schouten (artistic director), Tobias Klein & Oguz Büyükberber (recent CD Reverse Camouflage), Jelte Althuis (Calefax), Laura Carmichael and Marij van Gorkom. The international players are Armand Angster from France, Michael Riessler from Germany, Petra Stump and Heinz-Peter Linshalm from Austria and Stephan Vermeersch from Flanders. The program features both improvisations and compositions, including world premieres by Ig Henneman, Vanessa Lann, Martin Brandlmayr, Tobias Klein and Héctor Moro.
