Energetic jazz by Dutch audience favorite, saxophonist Bart Wirtz, and trumpet player Sean Jones, known for his strong performances with Wynton Marsalis and Marcus Miller.

In the Netherlands as well as Europe, Bart Wirtz is regarded as one of the leading saxophone players of his generation. His career accelerated after he received the Edison Jazzism Audience Award for his album iDreamer, on which he collaborated with Nicholas Payton. Now he will once again perform with a famous American jazz trumpet player: Sean Jones (Wynton Marsalis’ Jazz at the Lincoln Center Orchestra, Marcus Miller Band).

Bart Wirtz has a flexible style with which he covers the entire spectrum from hard bop to funk and nu-jazz. Following his successful CD iDreamer, which was recorded in Brooklyn, New York, he’s back with a new album for which he chose a band with an unusual line-up of bass clarinet, vibraphone and percussion.

‘Wirtz has an accessible sound, a wide tonal range and an impressive elasticity’ (de Volkskrant).

‘One of the finest young saxophonists in Europe today, Bart Wirtz adds his own personality to every note he plays.’ (Scott Yanow).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
