BADI ASSAD
Badi Assad-vocals, guitar, Zeli-six string el. bass, Guilherme Kastrup-percussion, drums
I play with my heart – and my heart plays with me.’ Romance, of the Brazilian sensual kind, plays an important role in the music of Badi Assad. The virtuoso guitarist has a voice that resembles Bobby McFerrin’s gymnastic vocal performances which brings a lot of surprising variation in her concerts. Initially she played music of Egberto Gismonti, Chico Buarque, Edu Lobo and other established names but slowly she found her own way in composing her personal stories in which she displays a wide range of musical interests: on her new CD ‘Verde’ she surrounds herself with classics like Asa Branca and songs by U2 and Björk.
