AVITAL MEETS AVITAL

Avi Avital mandoline, Omer Avital ud/bass, Yonathan Avishai piano, Itamar Doari percussion

Avi Avital lifts the mandolin to a higher level with his playing. Coming from the world of Vivaldi and Bach, he will now encounter the equally charismatic jazz musician Omer Avital (not related), who doubles on acoustic bass and oud, the Arabic lute. Their innovative hybrid of jazz, folk and Middle Eastern tones will be performed with a sophisticated chamber music approach.

Avi and Omer Avital both come from Jewish-Moroccan families living in Israel and both chose their own unique musical trajectory. Avi Avital, currently living in Berlin, is conquering the classical music world with spectacular concerts, while Omer Avital is making waves in progressive New York jazz clubs. Their first collaborative concert in The Netherlands features two sidemen, pianist Yonathan Avishai and percussionist Murat Coskun.
