Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ te gast in het Bimhuis
The repertoire of the Aurelia Saxophone Quartet already includes pieces by Astor Piazzolla. In its new programme the quartet shows that South America has more to offer besides tango. Alberto Ginastera for instance, who was proclaimed most promising composer of Argentina at the age of 18. His compatriot Carlos Michans has written beautiful saxophone quartets. Latin America’s most prominent composer, Heitor Villa-Lobos, is featured in the programme with his Third string quartet in the adaptation of soprano saxophonist Johan van der Linden.
