ARTVARK & NTJAM ROSIE
ARTVARK & NTJAM ROSIE
- Starts
- 20:30
Singular saxophone quartet Artvark meets jazz and pop singer Ntjam Rosie. ‘Rosie’s voice dances over the notes with spirit, freedom and control’ (NRC.next).
Saxophone quartet Artvark and Dutch-Cameroonian singer Ntjam Rosie have joined forces this year for a promising program Homelands. Jazz and latin schooled Ntjam Rosie is making waves with her flexible singing voice. She surprises with pop songs as well as raps and African influences.
Artvark Saxophone Quartet consists of four singular soloists and composers. They have toured all over the world and are open to all kinds of music. Together with soprano Claron McFadden they’ve already created a convincing mixture of jazz, soul and classical music on the album Sly Meets Callas.
‘Artvark combines staggeringly precise playing with groove, guts and excellent solos. Well-crafted compositions performed with passion and a contemporary feel’ (de Volkskrant).
‘Rosie’s voice dances over the notes in a charming way, in English, French and Bulu – a Cameroonian language – with spirit, freedom and control’ (NRC.next).
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
