In perfect harmony, somewhere between jazz and classical music, Artvak and Claron McFadden form a quintet that takes inspiration from texts about life, written from a female perspective. Claron McFadden selected a colourful range of philosophical, spiritual and comical material as points of departure, from Sappho who live in ancient Greece to an anonymous letter published in The Guardian, and from Emily Dickinson to texts by Claron herself.

Claron McFadden is an esteemed soprano, an American who has been living in The Netherlands since 1984. Here she made her opera debut in 1985, at the Holland Festival. As a soloist she has collaborated with renowned names such as Fabio Biondi, Michel van der Aa and The Arditti Quartet. With Artvark she previously recorded the album Sly Meets Callas. Artvark Saxophone Quartet has performed all over the world and collaborated with legends such as jazz drummer Peter Erskine, percussionist Doudou N’Diaye Rose and composer Philip Glass.
