Since its foundation in 2010 Arifa has received international praise for its unique, orientally flavored music style, which is colored with elements from Balkan music and jazz. The group is based in Amsterdam, yet its members have Turkish, Greek, Rumanian, German and Dutch Roots. With success they shed new light on ancient music from the Balkan and the Middle East. Arifa’s stage debut at the Bimhuis was rewarded with 5 stars by de Volkskrant and CD reviews were equally positive.
