Siebren Smink describes the music of his latest project Areia as ‘fairytale jazz’: musical narratives that open up worlds of wonder. The unusual lineup of guitar, piano, tenor saxophone and trumpet creates space for new colors and new ways of playing together. Siebren’s compositions lean towards a classical approach with lyrical melodies; beautiful sound stories, with room for improvisation.
