The Antwerp Jazz Orchestra is a big band with an international line-up featuring students, alumni and tutors of the jazz department of the Antwerp conservatory, plus top talents of the conservatories of Rotterdam and Bern. This unique ensemble is led by the renowned trumpeter/composer/arranger Bert Joris.

Following a very successful collaboration with Joshua Redman in 2018, the Antwerp Jazz Orchestra has invited the esteemed Chris Potter as a guest soloist. This American jazz hero is a role model for tenor saxophonists all over the world. For over 25 years he has remained at the absolute international top, with approximately 20 albums as a leader and 65 releases as sideman with greats such as Dave Holland, Paul Motian, Pat Metheny, Dave Douglas, Kenny Wheeler, and John Scofield. The concert will feature pieces from his extensive repertory, arranged for the Antwerp Jazz Orchestra under the guidance of Bert Joris.

‘A tenor saxophonist of sleek harmonic inquiry and superhuman technique’ (New York Times).

‘A soulful, sophisticated voice, with a story always in mind’ (Downbeat).
