ANTHONY JOSEPH & THE SPASM BAND

one long set, no intermission

Anthony Joseph zang, Colin Webster saxophone, Christian Arcucci gitaar, Andrew John bas, Marijus Aleksa drums

Poet, novelist and performer Anthony Joseph is currently hailed ‘the leader of the black avant-garde in Britain’. He was raised in Trinidad and now he shares his surrealistic experience of diaspora life from the London city jungle. His recent poetry, described as ‘afro-psychedelic’ has appeared in book as well as CD format. With his Spasm Band, Joseph links spoken word, rap and singing to raw funk, with shades of Gil Scott-Herron, jazz and afrobeat.
