Pianist Andrew Hill (Chicago, 1937) created a fascinating musical world on Blue Note in the 60’s, with unorthodox structures and mysterious atmospheres, avant-gardism rooted in tradition. As a composer and highly original piano stylist he is a mentor for a new generation, among which Greg Osby and Jason Moran.
