BIMHUIS & SPACE IS THE PLACE PRESENT

An Interplanetary Night: Solo Extravaganza | 9 solo’s by a.o. Reinier Baas, Wolfert Brederode, Andy Moor

Whirlwind of distinct musicians, who will all play solo, with interludes by the equally distinct improv jazz band The Ambush Party.

Under the guise of An Interplanetary Night, Space is the Place organizes spectacular evenings at the BIMHUIS that push boundaries and cross borders. With its roots in jazz and improvised music, the program will explore a variety of genres and disciplines, regularly converting the BIMHUIS into a steamy nightclub.

This edition is dubbed ‘solo extravanganza’ and will feature no less than nine solo performances, by guitarist/composer Reinier Baas, drummer Frank Rosaly, pianist Kaja Draksler, cellist Saartje van Camp , guitarist Andy Moor (The Ex), clarinet/sax player Joachim Badenhorst, pianist/ECM-recording artist Wolfert Brederode, percussionist Michael Vatcher and tenor saxophonist Andrius Dereviancenko. The interludes will be performed by the sparkling improv jazz band The Ambush Party from Amsterdam.

Since 2015, Space is the Place organizes concerts with free forms of jazz as a common thread. Its homebase is De Ruimte in Amsterdam-Noord: a record store, café, restaurant, venue and living room rolled into one. After more than 600 concerts by around 1100 artists, Space is the Place now regularly spreads its wings towards the BIMHUIS.
