On An Intergalactic Night you can expect short performances in all kinds of shapes and sizes. This new edition is part of the Mishakosmos Festival, from 24 May to 7 June at various locations in Amsterdam. The festival celebrates the bizarre and wonderful musical world of composer, pianist and philosopher Misha Mengelberg (1935-2017). His oeuvre continues to inspire musicians all over the world.

Ernst Glerum
Introducing this edition and playing in between concerts, Ernst Glerum will play a number of Misha Mengelberg compositions that he has not previously performed on piano. Ernst Glerum is mainly known as a double bassist and a member of the legendary ICP Orchestra co-founded by Han Bennink and Misha Mengelberg.

Terrie Ex & Emma Fischer
Terrie Ex (Hessels) is a founding member of legendary band The Ex (1979), who are still known for their challenging performances and releases. As a solo improviser, he’s on an endless search for unconventional and unusual guitar sounds. Now he will present Flaps (2025), the fascinating solo album he released via Terp, the label he co-founded with his partner Emma Fischer, who will join the performance painting live.

Meis Vranken ‘Flat News’
Multidisciplinary artist Meis Vranken works with subjects taken from her own daily life. She is also known as the singer of art punk band Yodel Queen. Now she presents Flat News, a brand new music performance centred around her own house. Our home one of the most important spaces of our life, yet we tend to ignore and forget it in a live setting. It’s high time to put the home in the spotlight and give it the glamour it deserves.

Beatrice Sberna & Friends
Rooted in jazz, Beatrice Sberna moves freely across genres from Italian music to noise. Reflecting a wide emotional spectrum – clumsy, tender, sharp, ironic, and unsettling – her music embraces vulnerability and unpredictability. Now she will perform new music alongside Tanine Kian (piano), Aniol Torrents (bass), and Ludvig Sondergaard (drums), presenting a set of written and improvised material with a strong sense of narrative and theatrical presence.

Mishakosmos Festival (May 24 – June 7) will take place at various locations in Amsterdam, including De Roode Bioscoop, Studio K, Takland, De Richel, OCCII, Splendor, Zaal 100, De Kring and BIMHUIS. The festival honors and celebrates the wacky and wonderful musical world of composer, pianist and philosopher Misha Mengelberg (1935 – 2017). His music is alive as ever and continues to inspire musicians worldwide.
