AMSTERDAM-ROMA JAZZ QUARTET
Gerard Kleijn-trumpet, Barend Middelhoff-tenor saxophone, Pietro Ciancaglini-bass, Alessandro Minetto-drums
After a five year long plunge into the Paris jazz scene, tenor player Barend Middelhoff moved to Bologna where he newly connected with many musicians. With his imaginative rhythm duo Giancaglini and Minetto and the Dutch trumpet player Gerard Kleijn, he founded the Amsterdam-Roma Jazz Quartet. ‘Middelhof is a romantic bopper who always had more attention for melody and his full, royal sound than for speed and harmonic tricks.’ is what the Volkskrant wrote.
