Urgent, exciting new band combining forerunners from the Berlin scene with trumpet innovator Peter Evans from New York. ‘Compelling, intensely focussed, dazzling’ (London Jazz News).
There’s a logical flow as well as an unpredictable tension in Amok Amor, which perfectly explains the contradiction in the band name. The music often seems accurately composed. However, the band members are known as cutting-edge improvisers.
Founder and double bassist Petter Eldh has played the Bimhuis before with the Marius Neset Quartet. Since 2015 he’s making waves in the Berlin scene in the trio with saxophonist Wanja Slavin, winner of the prestigious Echo Jazz Award, and drummer Christian Lillinger, who amazed Bimhuis audiences with his performances with, among others, Hyperactive Kid. The three Berlin-based musicians now form Amok Amor with American trumpeter and music innovator Peter Evans (ex-Mostly Other People Do the Killing).
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
