ALEXANDER VON SCHLIPPENBACH TRIO
in association with Goethe-Institut
Alexander von Schlippenbach-piano, Evan Parker-tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, Paul Lovens-drums
This trio is a monument in the European improvisation music, its importance to be compared to the collaboration of Misha Mengelberg en Han Bennink. Once inspired by Cecil Taylor’s trio of 1963, Schlippenbach, Parker and Lovens quickly found their own way: the one of pure improvisation in which they set a norm for over three decades. Three brilliant musicians, each of them with an explicit style and a rich arsenal of mutual experience.
