AL FOSTER QUARTET
Eli Degibri soprano/tenor saxophone, Adam Birnbaum piano, Doug Weiss bass, Al Foster drums
Fans of the last phase of Miles Davis’ career are familiar with the flawless, driving funky rhythms of Al Foster. Many believe Davis’ comeback in 1980 was due to the intuitive cooperation and the personal friendship between Davis and the drummer. In his quartet, Foster alternates his own music with standards and Miles-compositions like So What. ‘To watch him in action, perched low to the ground behind several sharply angled cymbals, is to witness something like an expert golf swing’ (The New York Times).
(The preciously announced concert of Joanne Brackeen has been cancelled)
