AL FOSTER QUARTET

Eli Degibri-tenor sax, soprano sax, Martin Sasse-piano, Doug Weiss-bass, Al Foster-drums

Those who like the later period of Miles Davis are familiar with the flawless, driving funk rhythms of Al Foster. Many believe Davis’ comeback in 1980 was due to the intuitive cooperation and the personal friendship between Davis and the drummer. In his quartet, Foster alternates his own music with standards and Miles-compositions like, “So What.” “To watch him in action, perched low to the ground behind several sharply angled cymbals, is to witness something like an expert golf swing.” (The New York Times)
