AB BAARS TRIO & KEN VANDERMARK

Through the years, Ken Vandermark and Ab Baars met each other often but only played together once. This was on November 14th, 1999 in the Empty Bottle in Chicago. Ab; ‘As a close duo we played the set and without any effort we dealt with the powerful drumming of Han Bennink and Hamid Drake.’ Is was about time to invite Ken as a guest of the Ab Baars Trio. With certainty he will bring Chicago with him: the legendary jazz tradition of the city, blended with European influences that colored his playing in the past years. After seventeen years, the Ab Baars Trio sounds more original, vital, poetic and adventurous than ever.
