Misha Mengelberg describes the unique style of Baars not as jazz, but as ‘Ab-music’. With his collaborators Wilbert de Joode on bass and Martin van Duynhoven on drums the reed player steeps himself in varied forms such as bop, free jazz, songs of the American Indians and avant-garde music which naturally follows Stravinsky and Messiaen.
