How often do you see three bands on the same stage? Together, the twelve musicians of Drummer Double Bill, Talking Cows and CRAM form one cracking big band. Assisted by VPRO presenter Vera Vingerhoeds, 3 DubbelDutch exposes the audience to the collective consciousness of a super group. How does improvisation work? What happens backstage? Audience members can send text messages to ask questions on a big screen. Tension is created by the contrasts between the bands. Drummers Double Bill is led by two drummers, Rob Verdurmen and Arend Niks. ‘A tip-top octet that offer flow and festivity in equal measure’ (Jazz Weekly). The musicians of Talking Cows share a fascination for the fundamental composition styles of Monk and Misha Mengelberg. CRAM is a new quartet formed by guitarist Corrie van Binsbergen. ‘Flexible and juicy grooves’ (de Volkskrant).
