Zoals Will Vinson altsax speelt hoort het instrument te klinken: krachtig, dramatisch en zo uniek en herkenbaar als een menselijke stem. De in New York gevestigde Brit benadert de moderne jazztraditie op frisse wijze met eigen composities en hedendaagse bewerkingen van standards. Als sideman werkte hij samen met geestverwanten als Chris Potter en Mark Turner, naast eigenzinnige singer-songwriters als Rufus Wainwright en Sufjan Stevens. ‘Marvelous… like a sprightly Olympic welterweight’ (Downbeat).
