Gitarist, componist en bandleider Vuma Ian Levin wordt in zijn geboorteland Zuid-Afrika gezien als een van de grootste jazztalenten, ‘the biggest jazz musician in Johannesburg’, aldus CNN Africa.
Het hele spectrum van de Zuid-Afrikaanse muziek verwerkt hij in zijn hedendaagse stijl, wat goed te horen is op zijn recente album Life and Death on the Other Side of the Dream.
In zijn kwintet, dat opgericht werd in Amsterdam, speelt hij onder meer met pianist Xavi Torres, tweevoudig winnaar van de Keep An Eye International Jazz Award.
