GONZALO RUBALCABA SOLO

22 jaar geleden speelde de Cubaanse pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba voor het laatst in het Bimhuis. In de tussentijd maakte hij cd’s met Michael Brecker, Joe Lovano en Charlie Haden, won hij een Grammy en bereikte hij de wereldtop van de jazzpianisten. ‘He has a tendency to load the music with tension by playing complex passages quietly, using dark, dense harmony; the delicacy of his touch makes it seem as if he were pulling notes out of the piano rather than pushing them in’ (New York Times).
