GENE CARL BAND

Toetsenist en componist Gene Carl (Los Angeles, 1953) combineert invloeden uit jazz, pop, rock en hedendaags klassiek. Jarenlang speelde Carl in Louis Andriessens Hoketus, terwijl hij tegelijkertijd zijn licht opstak bij zowel het Utrechtse Instituut voor Sonologie als de vermaarde zomercursus van Darmstadt. Met ongebruikelijke covers van Joy Division en My Bloody Valentine breekt zijn band met de standard-zucht in de jazz. ‘But every now and then, you stumble across a gold vein.
