Net als zijn thuisland Panama verbindt het pianospel van Danilo Perez twee continenten. Noord-Amerikaanse jazz en soul en Latijns-Amerikaanse ritmes versmelten in zijn ‘Pan-Amerikaanse’ composities. Op achtjarige leeftijd studeerde hij al klassieke piano aan het conservatorium. Later speelde hij op Grammy-winnende albums van Dizzy Gillespie, Arturo Sandoval en Wayne Shorter. ‘When the dust settles, the pianist Danilo Perez will be looking like one of the best things that happened to jazz around the turn of the millennium’ (New York Times).
