Het spel van percussionist Cyro Baptista is humoristisch, technisch verbluffend en het bruist van creatieve energie. De uit Brazilië afkomstige New Yorker werkte met uiteenlopende artiesten als Snoop Dogg en Paul Simon, is componist en maakt deel uit van de creatieve jazzscene rond John Zorn. Onlangs verscheen de cd CAYM: The Book of Angels Vol. 17, waarop Baptista het werk van Zorn eigenzinnig te lijf gaat. ‘The band that Cyro Baptista has pulled together produces a diversity of sounds and colors that can’t be found anywhere else.
