TOBIAS DELIUS QUARTET

Tenorsaxofonist Tobias Delius groeide op in Engeland, won tijdens zijn langdurige verblijf in Nederland de VPRO/Boy Edgar Prijs en woont tegenwoordig in Berlijn. Zijn kwartet heeft een onalledaagse bezetting, waarbij cellist Tristan Honsinger en contrabassist Joe Williamson regelmatig de strijkstok hanteren en Han Bennink voortdurend dwarse geluiden uit zijn slagwerk tovert. ‘This is one of Europe’s finest working groups… eclectic lines, delightful interplay and, quite often, ferocious swing’ (Downbeat). ‘Tobias Delius’ quartet… simply burned, leaving their audiences with dazed smiles and singed eyebrows’ (The Wire).
