JAZZ ORCHESTRA OF THE CONCERTGEBOUW & YURI HONING

‘De beste, veelzijdigste en meest swingende bigband van Nederland’ (AD), het Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, verwelkomt saxofonist Yuri Honing, winnaar van de VPRO Boy Edgar Prijs 2012. Jazz is voor hem een taal die openstaat voor invloeden uit alle genres, van pop en dance tot Arabische muziek. Als componist van internationale allure kan hij zich meten met zijn generatiegenoten Eric Vloeimans, Michiel Borstlap en Benjamin Herman. ‘From note one you know that saxophonist Honing has ‘got it’ and that tone can cut through your soul’ (The Independent).
