July 5, 6 and 7 at BIMHUIS: Amsterdam Roots concerts NAMIBIAN TALES, AFRICA NEGRA and KE HABER?

Amsterdam Roots Festival presents artistic talent emerging from the exciting middle ground between tradition and innovation. It is especially in this overlapping area that cross-overs between cultures and styles spark to life.

During the Amsterdam Roots Festival 2018, the following concerts are planned in the BIMHUIS:

Thursday July 5 – Namibian Tales – Kalahari Encounters

Unique, rare performance of nomadic singers from the Kalahari-desert, together with the international group Namibian Tales with the Namibian born vocalist Shishani.

Friday July 6 – Africa Negra

Irresistible African rumba by the band Africa Negra, who come from the islands São Tomé and Príncipe and have been renowned in Portuguese-speaking countries for decades.

Saturday July 7 – Ke Haber? (What’s new?)

The Spanish-Jewish Ladino culture is the inspiration for this journey from past to present in music, images and stories. Featuring, among others, singer Noam Vazana and VJ Tarantula.
