Floris Kappeyne (23) studies jazz and classical piano at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and makes his debut at the BIMHUIS on 11 January, in celebration of his second release “Synesthesia”. During his studies, he examines the possibilities to break the boundaries between the two styles, and for his concert in the BIMHUIS he completely elaborates: in addition to the classical piano trio, there are features for a choir, classical singing and an audiovisual composer, Jaromir Mulders, who creates spectacular live visuals on the spot, inspired by the music.
“For the month of January I want to highlight a number of concerts; two concerts where young musicians of my generation make their debut in the BIMHUIS which are really worthwhile, and a number of concerts with groups that are active in experimental music, groups that represent the quality mark of the BIMHUIS. As the last concert I light one of the gipsy jazz, which for me has a nostalgic value. “
