The BIMHUIS considers it a matter of vital importance that children are given the opportunity to immerse themselves in the wonders of music from an early age. As a result, we organize a range of activities for children and adolescents, in collaboration with Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ. These include concerts, workshops and educational projects that run the gamut from jazz and world music to classical, contemporary and electronic music, and provide a unique and rich experience in one of the Netherlands’ most beautiful concert halls.
For information about this, please contact the BIMHUIS: phone +31 20 788 2150; e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Not only are the early identification, support and development of genuine talent among the most important functions of the BIMHUIS, they are also embedded in its artistic policy. Consequently, the BIMHUIS plays an active role in the development of major talent. Our weekly Workshop & Sessions are run by teachers from the Dutch academy of music (Conservatorium van Amsterdam), and the graduate presentation of students from the academy includes a concert at the BIMHUIS. We also organize regular masterclasses in collaboration with the academy. In addition, the BIMHUIS functions as a musical laboratory by arranging monthly Monday Match sessions, in which dancers and musicians improvise together.
Finally, the BIMHUIS manages the Dutch Impro Academy, a course in advanced improvisation that it has run since 2009, in collaboration with the Instant Composers Pool (ICP) and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. More information: www.dutchimproacademy.nl
