Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange & special guest Wayne Snow

This edition of DATSKAT is all about rave jazz with a soulful sound. Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange (Z*F*E*X) once again joins forces with Wayne Snow, who’s known for his warm vocals. The concept for Z*F*E*X came into being in the Australian outback. Drummer Ziggy Zeitgeist’s formative years were at the ‘bush doof’, an outback rave where DJs drove their speakers to remote lands and dance music would blast to the wee hours in the morning. Z*F*E*X is the synthesis of dance music in human form, where jazz drums, synthesizers and other instruments are played with the raw energy of electronic beats and samples.

Singer Wayne Snow’s upbringing in Nigeria led to a range of influences, from the afrobeat of Fela Kuti and King Sunny Ade to the soul of Sade and Marvin Gaye. Wayne Snow was part of Berlin’s burgeoning future jazz/neo soul scene, and he celebrated success with dance producer Darius, with releases on labels such as Brownswood, Dekmantel and Rhythm Section. Together with Z*F*E*X he created a series of EPs called Kreuzberg Kix.
